Welcome again to the Crypto Files, Cryptophiles. Two bizarre and assumedly unrelated happenings to report today:
1) According to a report by faculty members at Harvard Law, the Cryptogramophone site has been censored by the Chinese government! Though no reasons are given, we suspect that China feels that our vast corporate empire is a threat to their monopoly on the avant-garde jazz industry. Click here to see the Harvard report. Our listing is about 3/4 down the page--the websites are listed alphabetically.
2) Dimebag Darrell, the former guitarist for iconic heavy metal band Pantera, was shot and killed last night by a gun-toting assailant at a concert in Ohio. There may not be much interface between the jazz and metal communities these days (unfortunate, given the success of such avant-leaning bands as Dillinger Escape Plan, Don Caballero and Kayo Dot), but at least in my world, Dimebag was up there with Nels, Hendrix, Danny Gatton, Warren Haynes and Marc Ribot as one of my favorite guitarists to listen to. Throw back a swig of bourbon for the man. Dimebag, RIP.
